The award-winning musical Oliver!, an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel, with a rousing score of tunes that will send you out the door whistling, is opening this April at The Liberty Theatre, presented by Little Theatre on the Bay.
Oliver! tells the tale of a young orphan boy (precociously played by Holly Stark) who, after escaping a grim workhouse in Victorian England, finds himself taken under the wing of a bright-eyed thief called The Artful Dodger (portrayed by Neeko Tucker). Dodger brings Oliver home to his gang of pickpockets, led by the loveable rogue Fagin (John Adamson). As Oliver navigates this new life amid hardened criminals (like Harlan Morse as Bill Sykes), unscrupulous damsels (Jessica Crooks as Nancy), undertakers, workhouse managers, street sellers, and Bow Street Runners, he discovers the love of a family he never knew existed.
Oliver! is a musical sure to entertain, featuring iconic songs like “Food, Glorious Food,” “Consider Yourself,” “Where is Love?,” and “As Long As He Needs Me,” as well as a cast of over 40 local performers.
